Kaha - Matariki Short Works Programme

KAHA is a short works programme of dance celebrating the strength and pride of Maori contemporary dance. It is comprised of 7 short works choreographed by the members of Atamira.
Selections include Artistic Director Moss Patterson's "Moko" exploring the art of body tattoo, and "Koru" inspired by the spiral design, represented in Maori art as well as his exciting new work "Haka" a contemporary work fusing traditional movement and modern dance; Taane Mete's beautiful solo "Manawahine" is an exploration of the female form in relation to light; Jack Gray was inspired by the Kamira manuscripts and his Mitimiti whakapapa to produce an edgy performance piece; a new high-vibe work for the full company choreographed by Kelly Nash features a pumping made-in-Aotearoa soundtrack, plus a full ensemble version of the popular dance Poi E as seen in the hit movie "Boy" choreographed by Dolina Wehipeihana completes this showcase of works.
